Ministry of Industry and Minerals Signs Memorandum of Understanding with a Hungarian Company to Support Water Desalination and Infrastructure Projects
As part of its efforts to strengthen international cooperation and attract strategic investment, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rotary International Ltd. of Hungary on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, in the city of Misrata. The agreement establishes a framework for joint cooperation in implementing infrastructure investment projects.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Ministry by the Deputy Minister for Production Affairs, Industrial Zones, and General Affairs, while Rotary International Ltd. represented the Hungarian side. The agreement reflects the commitment of both parties to strengthening partnership, exchanging expertise, and supporting Libya’s economic development objectives.
The memorandum provides a framework for cooperation in implementing a number of strategic projects, with particular emphasis on water desalination and purification initiatives, in addition to the development of public services. These projects are expected to enhance infrastructure, promote sustainable development, and improve the quality of essential services provided to citizens.
The signing of the MoU builds upon a series of meetings and discussions held in recent months between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and representatives of the Hungarian company. These discussions focused on identifying areas of cooperation and developing implementation mechanisms for priority projects, reflecting both parties’ commitment to establishing a long-term strategic partnership based on knowledge exchange and mutual investment.
This agreement reaffirms the Ministry’s commitment to expanding cooperation with international partners, fostering an investment-friendly environment, and advancing development projects that strengthen infrastructure, improve essential public services, and support Libya’s sustainable development agenda.
