Minister of Industry and Minerals Visits the Green Industry Center and Reviews Its Future Plans
As part of his ongoing visits to institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdulqader, Minister of Industry and Minerals, accompanied by H.E. Mr. Mustafa Al-Samou, Undersecretary General of the Ministry, visited the Green Industry Center and the Information Center to review their operations and assess the key challenges affecting their performance. The visit reflects the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing institutional efficiency and supporting the development of Libya’s industrial sector.
During the visit, the Minister held a meeting with department directors and senior officials from both centers, where he received an overview of their current activities, operational needs, and future priorities. He emphasized the importance of supporting specialized institutions and strengthening their capacity to fulfill their mandates in line with the Ministry’s vision for industrial development and sustainable growth.
For his part, Dr. Mustafa Al-Aib, Director General of the Green Industry Center, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the Center’s establishment, vision, strategic objectives, and major achievements. He also reviewed the Center’s 2026 Action Plan, which includes a range of programs and initiatives aimed at accelerating the transition toward green industry, improving resource and energy efficiency, and promoting sustainability across Libya’s industrial sector.
Dr. Al-Aib further highlighted the principal challenges facing the Center and stressed the importance of providing the necessary institutional support to enable it to implement its strategic programs and contribute effectively to Libya’s transition toward a more sustainable and competitive economy.
As part of the day’s activities, the Green Industry Center signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Center for Research on New and Renewable Energy at the University of Sirte, reflecting the Center’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that promote innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Green Industry Center by its Director General, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Al-Aib, and on behalf of the Center for Research on New and Renewable Energy by its Director General, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shaklouf. The agreement aims to strengthen scientific and research cooperation, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and develop joint projects in the field of clean energy, contributing to Libya’s transition toward a green economy and sustainable development.
The agreement also forms part of the Center’s broader efforts to expand cooperation with academic and research institutions, capitalize on national expertise, advance innovative technologies, and strengthen scientific research and practical applications in renewable energy and sustainable industry.
The Minister’s visit, together with the signing of the cooperation agreement, reflects the shared commitment of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Green Industry Center to strengthening collaboration between government institutions and academia, fostering innovation, supporting the development of national industries, and accelerating Libya’s transition toward a knowledge-based green economy and sustainable development.
