Green Industry Center's Scientific Committee Holds Its First Meeting to Discuss Green Industrial Transformation Projects and Operational Framework
The Scientific Committee of the Green Industry Center held its first meeting on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, following its establishment under Director General Decision No. (6) of 2026. The meeting marks an important step toward strengthening the role of scientific research in supporting green industry initiatives and sustainable development.
The meeting commenced with a review of the regulations governing the Center’s operations, the decision establishing the Scientific Committee, and the cooperation agreements concluded with relevant institutions. Committee members discussed the committee’s operational framework and responsibilities, with the objective of ensuring effective performance and achieving its scientific and research goals.
The Committee also reviewed a number of green industrial transformation projects, assigning members to evaluate each project in preparation for developing the scientific and technical recommendations necessary to support their implementation in accordance with international best practices and modern standards.
In addition, the meeting addressed researcher admission criteria and mechanisms for scientific collaboration, while evaluating several research proposals submitted to the Committee. These discussions aim to enhance the quality of research outputs and support the development of studies related to green industry and sustainable energy.
The Scientific Committee comprises a distinguished group of academics and experts representing Libyan universities, the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals. The members bring extensive expertise in the fields of industry, environmental protection, energy, and sustainability.
The Committee’s inaugural meeting reflects the Green Industry Center’s commitment to establishing scientific research as a fundamental pillar in advancing the transition toward sustainable industry, fostering innovation, and building scientific partnerships that contribute to the development of national solutions for environmental and industrial challenges, in support of Libya’s green economy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
