Represented by its Director General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Aib, the Green Industry Center participated in a meeting chaired by H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdulqader, Minister of Industry and Minerals, with a high-level delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The meeting was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli and was attended by representatives of several national institutions and relevant stakeholders.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of mining and green industry, while supporting national efforts to develop Libya’s industrial sector in accordance with the principles of sustainability and the green economy. These efforts aim to enhance the competitiveness of Libyan industry and contribute to sustainable economic development.

During the meeting, the Director General of the Green Industry Center presented an overview of the Center’s establishment, mandate, and strategic role in supporting the transition toward a green circular economy. He also highlighted the Center’s efforts to promote sustainable industrial development, advance green industrial transformation, improve the efficient use of energy and natural resources, and support initiatives related to recycling and Cleaner Production.

The discussions also explored opportunities for cooperation in capacity building, the development of legislation and policies that support green industry, and the exchange of international expertise to strengthen Libya’s regulatory and institutional frameworks. These initiatives are intended to facilitate the transition toward a more sustainable, efficient, and competitive industrial sector.

For its part, the OECD delegation welcomed the opportunity to cooperate with the Green Industry Center, expressing the Organization’s readiness to provide technical support and facilitate the exchange of expertise. The delegation also referred to the OECD’s experience in supporting the development of green industry in the Arab Republic of Egypt, noting that the lessons learned from that experience could provide valuable insights for Libya, given the similarities in challenges and development priorities.

The participation of the Green Industry Center in this meeting reflects its commitment to expanding partnerships with international organizations and benefiting from global best practices in developing policies and initiatives that support green industry. These efforts contribute to advancing Libya’s transition toward a green economy, strengthening the competitiveness of its industrial sector, and reinforcing the principles of sustainable development.
