Green Industry Center Launches Technical Study for Supplying Al-Zarrouk Garment Factory with Solar Energy
As part of national efforts to advance the transition toward sustainable industry and promote the use of renewable energy sources in the industrial sector, and under the directives of Mr. Mustafa Al-Samou, Undersecretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, a technical team from the Green Industry Center conducted a field visit to Al-Zarrouk Garment Factory on Monday, 15 June 2026, to assess the feasibility of supplying the factory with a solar energy system.
The visit forms part of the Center’s efforts to support the green industrial transition and encourage the adoption of clean energy solutions within industrial facilities. These efforts aim to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and promote the principles of Cleaner Production and environmental sustainability.
The technical team’s work included collecting data on the factory’s energy consumption, inspecting potential locations for the installation of solar panels, and assessing and estimating the facility’s electrical loads. This information will serve as the basis for the technical studies required to determine the appropriate capacity of the solar energy system, optimize the distribution of its components, prepare financial estimates, and develop suitable implementation proposals for the project.
The study represents an important step toward assessing the technical and economic feasibility of using solar energy in industrial facilities. It is expected to promote more efficient energy use, strengthen the ability of factories to rely on sustainable energy sources, reduce operating costs, and improve environmental performance.
This initiative reflects the role of the Green Industry Center in supporting the transition toward green industry and expanding the application of renewable energy technologies across the industrial sector. It also aligns with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability, promote Cleaner Production, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals and the green economy in Libya.
