Green Industry Center Participates in Consultative Workshop on Advancing the Transition to Sustainable Energy and Reducing Methane Emissions
As part of efforts to strengthen national and international cooperation in the fields of sustainability and clean energy, a team from the Green Industry Center participated in the consultative workshop hosted by the National Oil Corporation (NOC), in partnership with the European Union Mission to Libya and the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), held on July 6–7, 2026, in Tripoli, with the participation of a number of experts and representatives of national and international institutions.
The Center’s participation came as part of its commitment to following the latest international initiatives related to sustainable energy and strengthening cooperation with national institutions and international partners, in support of the transition toward green industry and a low-carbon economy.
The workshop addressed a number of key topics related to renewable energy, environmental protection, and methane emissions reduction. Participants reviewed the latest trends and initiatives supporting the transition toward sustainable energy and highlighted the importance of adopting responsible environmental practices that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
The workshop also discussed mechanisms for measuring, monitoring, and reducing methane emissions in the oil and gas sector. Participants reviewed the latest technologies used in this field, including the use of the MARS platform and satellite technologies to detect emissions and leaks, as well as the development of measurement and reporting systems in accordance with the OGMP 2.0 framework, thereby enhancing transparency and improving the sector’s environmental performance.
The workshop also featured a presentation on the ANQA Initiative, which aims to support the transition toward cleaner energy and industry in Libya by improving energy efficiency, implementing energy management systems, conducting energy audits, and transforming environmental challenges into practical and sustainable projects and solutions that contribute to improving the efficiency of both the industrial and energy sectors.
The participation of the Green Industry Center in the workshop reflects its role in supporting national and international initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability, exchanging expertise, and building effective partnerships that contribute to developing sustainable solutions, advancing the green industrial transition, and promoting the use of modern technologies in line with global trends toward a lower-emission and more sustainable economy.
