As part of efforts to support national initiatives aimed at developing the industrial sector and attracting high-quality investments, the Green Industry Center participated in an expanded meeting chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for Production, Industrial Zones and General Affairs, Mr. Mustafa Al-Sammo, with a delegation from Lucky Cement, one of the leading companies specializing in cement manufacturing, to discuss the proposed establishment of a new cement plant in the city of Al Khums.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Green Industry Center, alongside the Director General of the Industrial Research Center, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Mining Corporation and its Director General, and the Head of the Ministry’s Western Region Branch Office. The meeting reflected coordinated technical and institutional efforts to assess the project from various industrial, environmental, and mining perspectives.

Discussions focused on the project’s investment plans and the technical arrangements required for its implementation, as well as logistical requirements and mechanisms for cooperation among the relevant institutions. These efforts aim to create an enabling environment for the project to be implemented in accordance with the highest technical and economic standards.

Participants also emphasized the importance of complying with modern environmental standards throughout the design and implementation stages of the plant. In this regard, the Green Industry Center highlighted the importance of integrating sustainable industry principles, improving resource and energy efficiency, and adopting best environmental practices to minimize the industry’s environmental impact and support the country’s transition toward cleaner production and a green economy.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities to the investor, contributing to the implementation of the project within a development-oriented vision that supports local production, creates employment opportunities, and increases the added value of the industrial sector.

The participation of the Green Industry Center in the meeting reflects its role in providing technical and advisory input on industrial projects and supporting the adoption of sustainable solutions. These efforts contribute to developing a more efficient and competitive national industry that aligns with sustainable development requirements and supports Libya’s green industrial transition.
