As part of its ongoing efforts to build national capacities and enhance technical expertise in the fields of sustainability and carbon emissions reduction, the Green Industry Center launched on Sunday, July 21, 2026, a specialized training course titled “Carbon Footprint and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)”, which continued for three days with the participation of a number of the Center’s engineers.

The course aimed to develop participants’ skills in calculating and measuring carbon footprints, as well as familiarizing them with the requirements of the European Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and its implications for industrial and commercial sectors. This contributes to enhancing the readiness of national professionals to meet international environmental requirements and supports the country’s efforts toward green industry and a low-carbon economy.

The training program covered a range of specialized scientific and practical topics, including methodologies for measuring carbon emissions and preparing carbon footprint reports. It also addressed the regulatory framework of the CBAM, its implications for the competitiveness of national products in global markets, and international best practices and experiences in reducing emissions and promoting industrial sustainability.

The course concluded on Thursday, July 23, 2026, following three days of intensive training. It witnessed active participation from attendees and contributed to enhancing their knowledge and technical capabilities in carbon emissions management, enabling them to contribute to the implementation of sustainable solutions within industrial institutions and facilities.

The Green Industry Center emphasizes that organizing this course is part of its strategy to implement specialized training programs that keep pace with global environmental and regulatory developments. These programs aim to prepare qualified national professionals capable of supporting the green industrial transition, promoting a culture of sustainability, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Libyan industrial sector in line with international environmental standards.
