At the assignment of Mr. Mustafa Ali Al-Sammo, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the Green Industry Center represented the Ministry of Industry and Minerals at the National Dialogue on the Transition of Libya’s Fossil-Fuel Energy Sector toward Sustainable Energy Systems, organized by the Renewable Energy Authority in cooperation with the Energy Division of the Climate Change and Natural Resource Sustainability Group at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The event was held at the Lancaster Life Tower Hotel in Tripoli.

The Ministry was represented by a team comprising Prof. Dr. Mustafa Al-Aib, Director General of the Green Industry Center; Dr. Faisal Abushemin, Director of the Tripoli Green Industrial Transformation Office; and Mr. Osama Al-Senussi, Member of the Sustainable Solutions Committee. The team participated in the dialogue and discussions on several issues related to the future of the energy sector and the transition toward more sustainable and resilient energy systems.

As part of the Center’s participation, Dr. Faisal Abushemin presented the Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ contribution through a paper entitled “Mineral Resources Available in Libya for Use in Renewable Energy Technologies.” The paper addressed the importance of mineral resources and their role in supporting renewable energy technologies and advancing energy-sector transformation, as well as their potential contribution to economic diversification efforts.

This participation reflects the Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ commitment to strengthening its engagement in national dialogues on energy and sustainability, while supporting the transition toward green industrial transformation and more efficient use of resources and energy. These efforts contribute to developing more sustainable pathways for Libya’s industrial sector and national economy.
